New Ideas

June 22nd, 2005 (04:09 pm)

Almost every other graphic novel out there is somewhat identical to my plot. Or shall I say my grapic novel is identical to every other graphic novel. I didn't intend for this to happen, but I guess we focus just a bit too much on the end of the world. ;)

A list of what my novel and other novel's have in common:

The desolate land full of destruction and debris...
The killer strippers...
The somewhat superpowers...

But NO ONE has Lampy, thus Lampy will stay.

I'm going to revise and attempt a plot that isn't close to anything written before.
For instance, I might make the plot a bit more real than how it was originally planned. I need to research current affairs to make sure this whole civil war might happen and is somewhat believable.

If you have any input please share, and if I use your idea it will be credited.

I have to say, why just wipe out a couple of cities?
China is just itching to invade Taiwan, which it considers a rogue part of its territory. Sadly, under an old contract (drawn up for strategic reasons during the cold war), the United States is not only selling powerful weapons to Taiwan for its self defense, but has promised to defend Taiwan should China attack. China believes it has a right to Taiwan, and the 1.2 billion people in that happy little nation (compared to 20 million in Taiwan and 300 million in the US) make for a big, ugly WW3 situation that has a damned familiar plot: The Forces of Freedom against the terrible Repressive Forces of Communism. To swing this to a more full effect, you can look up the cold-war era propaganda against the Russians and just shift it to the Chinese. It'll be a simple matter, then, to illustrate just how foolish the world had been (when it was still mostly there) in fighting over what kind of rule people should have. All this should help give your piece a nicely dark edge. What do you think?

This is a good idea. I will forward this to my illustrator and she can start manifesting the propaganda posters which might provide excellent advertising for when the novel is done. ;)
